\(\text{C}/2014 \text{ UN}_{271} \) (Bernardinelli-Bernstein)

On June 21st 2021, Anton Petrov posted a video on his YouTube channel titled Woah! Giant Comet/Minor Planet Is Approaching From Oort Cloud. 


It has an extremely elliptical orbit with a period of millions of years but within ten years this object will pass near the orbit of Saturn. It is already within the orbit of Neptune. It is a sizeable object, over a hundred kilometres in diameter, and may even qualify as a dwarf planet. 

There is further information in this article from which I'll quote the opening paragraphs:
Astronomers sifting through data from the Dark Energy Survey (DES) have spotted a large Oort Cloud object approaching the outer regions of the solar system.

The discovery has caused ripples of excitement within the planetary science community because of the object’s unusually large size – initial estimates suggest it may be as big as 130–160 km across, substantially bigger than some of the largest comets. Studying the object could also give researchers insights into an enigmatic process in the solar system.

Catalogued as C/2014 UN271, the wandering visitor was found in archival data captured by the DES project, which investigates the cosmological mystery of dark energy by photographing distant galaxies.

C/2014 UN271 (Bernardinelli-Bernstein), or simply 2014 UN271, is a large Oort cloud comet discovered by astronomers Pedro Bernardinelli and Gary Bernstein in archival images from the Dark Energy Survey. When first imaged in October 2014, the object was 29 AU (4.3 billion km) from the Sun and almost as far as Neptune's orbit. As of 2021, it is currently approaching the Sun at a distance of 20.2 AU (3.0 billion km) and will reach its perihelion of 10.9 AU (just outside of Saturn's orbit) in January 2031.

So far, there is nothing I can find in the astrological literature about it but I'll keep an eye out for some information. I guess its point of perihelion, reached in January of 2031, will be the most significant point. It certainly needs a more catchy name.

The Astrological Community

So far in 2021, I've made four posts while in previous years my tallies are shown in Figure 1:

Certainly 2018 was my most productive year. I'd like to post more but my attention tends to focus on my other blogs. This is largely because I'm getting a steady influx of information from various sources that provide ideas for content. With Astrology, I'm not getting any of that as I'm not hooked up to any sources. This is partly because there's so much rubbish out there and it's tiring to separate the grain from the chaff.

I have a special interest in mundane astrology and it's in this area that I should try to discover informative sites. One of the links I already have is to the Astrologers' Community that has many different sections with input from a wide variety of people. Hopefully I can report back on some of the above sites in future posts.

Saturn Square Uranus

2021 will be marked by three successive squares between transiting Saturn and Uranus: status quo faces off against the inevitability of change. Normally, this might be viewed as a good thing but what if the status quo is the way of life we once knew and the change is the imposition of technocratic Orwellian state. 

One square between the two planets has already occurred around February 17th in 7° Aquarius/Taurus. See Figure 1.

The next will occur around June 15th in 13° Aquarius/Taurus. See Figure 2. Transiting Ceres will also be conjunct Uranus in 14°. Given the connection of Ceres to grains and crops, this could presage sudden and unexpected crises in the food supply.

The Sabian Symbol for Aquarius 13° is a train entering a tunnel (remember in the Sabian system 0° is Sabian 1° and so 13° is Sabian 14°). Here is fuller explanation:

PHASE 314 (AQUARIUS 14°): A TRAIN ENTERING A TUNNEL.

KEYNOTE: The ability to short-cut the process of natural evolution by the exercise of will, mental skill and physical self-discipline.

In this symbol we see a condensation of what is implied in the three preceding ones. Man must be inspired by a vision of what is possible for him to achieve; he has to organise a schedule of necessary activities if the work is to be done in terms of successive moves, each requiring a specialised type of skill and strength (i.e. a hierarchy of functions); he has to find a propitious time for beginning the work. 
The end result is an acceleration of the evolutionary process, whether at the psychobiological level (that of yoga and other similar disciplines) or at the social level, i.e. the level at which, in its external aspect, civilisation proceeds.

This fourth stage symbol presents a picture of what can be achieved by a combination of social and cultural, and even personal, techniques. It implies the possibility of shortening the length of time needed for progress by cutting through obstacles and delays. The Keyword is PENETRATION. Source.
This Sabian symbol is eerily suggestive of transhumanism that does indeed seek "an acceleration of the evolutionary process". The Sabian symbol for Taurus 13° is as follows:
PHASE 44 (TAURUS 14°): ON THE BEACH, CHILDREN PLAY WHILE SHELLFISH GROPE AT THE EDGE OF THE WATER.

KEYNOTE: Returning to simpler joys for revitalisation.

This somewhat ambiguous picture suggests the way in which simultaneous activities of different natures can fill the individualising mind. The consciousness of socialised man operates at two levels, in close parallelism with what goes on in the unconscious parts of the mind (i.e. the sea). Natural urges are half conscious, half unconscious. They exist in a borderland – the wet sands still partly covered by small waves. The children play a little further away,  learning  imaginative  yet  socio-cultural games. The hardworking porter loaded with baggage should remain a little child at times and allow himself to be close to subconscious but natural urges. At least he should do so for a while until he feels surer of himself.

This symbol suggests that it is better not to attempt at once more than one can achieve through conscious and ego-driven ambition. It refers to the value, at this stage, of close contact with natural energies and simple pleasures, of a LIVE AND LET LIVE attitude. Source.
The third square will occur around December 24th in 11° Aquarius/Taurus. All squares are between the fixed signs of Aquarius and Taurus. Saturn in Aquarius is suggestive of social controls of various sorts while Taurus, with its associations with the body, is suggestive of social controls that involve the body in some way via biometrics, vaccinations etc. None of it augurs well for humanity. See Figure 3.

The Sabian symbol for Aquarius 11° is equally ominous:
PHASE 312 (AQUARIUS 12°): ON A VAST STAIRCASE STAND PEOPLE OF DIFFERENT TYPES, GRADUATED UPWARD.

KEYNOTE: The necessity of recognising differences of types and levels of development wherever human beings live and work together.

This symbol obviously refers to the ascending process of evolution of life forms and consciousness. It seems to apply especially to the fact that differences of levels exist among human beings. The ideal of equalitarianism has to be balanced by a realisation that hierarchy of levels is a fact of nature. 
Each person should be aware of the level at which he (or she) stands, even as he strives to move toward a higher one. He should look up for inspiration and examples, while helping the human beings of the next lower level to reach up. This is the great give-and-take of evolution, and it applies to sociocultural evolution as well as to the progression of biological species.

At this second stage of the sixty-third sequence we find a symbol of “ascent,” contrasting with the preceding one which implied a “descent” of spiritual forces. It warns us against sentimentally over-stressing our Western equalitarianism which essentially applies to the spiritual core of all individual persons, considered “sons of God” or spiritual monads. Every human being is potentially divine as an individual person, but THE NATURAL PROGRESSION OF STATES OF CONSCIOUSNESS is an unavoidable reality to accept at the social-mental level. Source.
The global elite would certainly embrace this symbol because its members would see themselves at the top of this staircase. It is the technocratic dream to impose this sort of ordering on humanity, so 2022 may herald an acceleration of this process. The Sabian symbol for Taurus 11° (Sabian 12°) is:

PHASE 42 (TAURUS 12°): A YOUNG COUPLE WINDOW-SHOPPING.
KEYNOTE: The fascination of the youthful ego with the products of its culture.

The woman waters flowers in her garden: this is the inward-turned attention of the mind revelling in its own flowering. But now we have a scene symbolising the outward longing of the ego, which has polarised itself and become “man-woman.” The “man” aspect is that part of the ego which craves direct participation with society and the world of other egos. Fully to participate requires a special kind of substantiation – and we are still in this third scene, the Keyword of which is “Substantiation.” Clothes, goods of various types, adornment, and working tools are needed. The consciousness surveys possibilities; they are defined by organic nature (personal abilities) and by the ambition to succeed in society.

This second stage is defined in contrast to the first. The ego becomes aware of what society has to offer. Its attention is turned outward. An interplay takes place between the individual and his culture. He is being moulded by what he sees and by prospects for growth in social prestige. It is a phase of SOCIALISATION OF DESIRES. Source.

The Great Attractor

In reference to His Tomb, Meher Baba once said:

Seventy years after I drop my body, this place will turn into a place of pilgrimage, where lovers of God, philosophers and celebrities will come to pay homage.

Now Meher Baba dropped His body on January 31st 1969 and seventy years takes us to early 2039. I looked at Baba's chart to note what was happening transit-wise around this time. The most significant aspect to me was the continued crossing and recrossing of His natal Venus by Pluto. This occurs over a time period covering June 2037 to November 2039.

In Figure 1, I've shown that Baba's natal Venus is linked directly (yellow lines) or indirectly (purple lines) to all planets except Uranus (in splendid isolation) and the Chiron/Ceres conjunction. Pluto, representing Rebirth, will act on Venus, The Great Attractor, to draw "lovers of God, philosophers and celebrities" from all over the world and transform Meherabad into a place of worldwide pilgrimage. People will wake up to the reality of Baba, The Great Awakener, and understand His Message.

At the end of 2039, transiting Uranus will be very close to Baba's Descendant and will cross it in early 2040. The progressions for June 2039 show the progressed Moon conjunct natal Venus and progressed Venus/Jupiter conjunct in the fifth house, trine to natal Venus. See Figure 2.

As of 2021, there is a growing but still very limited awareness of Meher Baba within the global population. Baba's prophecy would suggest that there must some dramatic changes in the world over the next eighteen years in order for His name to become more widely known. At the moment, scientism is the new religion and looks set to dominate the 21st century. However, if faith in scientism wanes for whatever reason, people will be looking for something to replace it. For some a return to the religions of the past will be an option but for the majority this will not satisfy. Baba's teachings are ideal for a disillusioned humanity who is seeking spiritual sustenance free of religious dogma. In His own way, Baba will bring about this spiritual awakening.

A Trine to Remember

In Jakarta, at noon on Wednesday, January 13th 2021, there is a conjunction of the Sun and Moon in 23°13' of Capricorn. It falls almost exactly on the MC (22°54') with Pluto very nearby in (24°35'). Interestingly, all the planetary bodies lie within an arc of a little over 120°, bounded by Venus in 5°43' of Capricorn and Uranus, retrograde, in 6°43' of Taurus. Figure 1 shows the configuration.

As well as the Sun, Moon, Pluto stellium, there is another one nearby between Mercury (7°40' Aquarius, Jupiter (5°37' Aquarius) and Saturn (3°03' Aquarius). Additionally, Ceres (15°51' Pisces) and Neptune (18°45' Pisces) form doublets along with Mars (2°57' Taurus) and Uranus (6°43'R). Chiron and Venus are the only two bodies that stand alone and they form a close square. Mars-Uranus is square to Mercury-Jupiter-Saturn.

What does it all mean, for Jakarta and the rest of the world? It's certainly an energetic concentration of planets and on the days following the Moon will sweep across the gap between itself and Mars-Uranus, making various aspects as it does so. The Moon won't take long to reach the sensitive Mercury-Jupiter-Saturn stellium (the next day in fact). The Moon represents the people, suffering humanity if you will, and so perhaps it augurs badly for them as they are buffeted even more by forces beyond their control.

Let's not forget that on January 13th, it will be almost exactly a year since the fateful conjunction that precipitated the pandemic. See Figure 2.

As can be seen, this conjunction was almost in the same position as the forthcoming Sun-Moon conjunction in 23°13' of Capricorn. A year ago the positions (all in Capricorn) were:
  • Mercury 22°24'
  • Saturn 22°43'
  • Pluto 22°45'
  • Sun 21°26'
  • Ceres 22°19'
So it's an anniversary of sorts with the Sun returning to its position of a year ago and with Pluto pretty much in the same position as well (less than two degrees difference). Perhaps our psychopathic overlords have something surprising in store for us once again. We don't have long to wait to find out.

Perihelion and Aphelion

On January 2nd 2021 in Jakarta, the Earth reached perihelion or its closest distance from the Sun. Figure 1 shows the situation:

Figure 2 shows the times and distances when the Earth is at perihelion and aphelion (its furthest distance from the Sun).

The same source has this to say about the Earth's orbit:
The Earth orbits the Sun in an elliptical path, which means that there is one point on the path closest to the Sun and one point that is farthest away from the Sun. This path's shape varies due to the gravitational influences of other planetary objects, particularly the Moon. Approximately every 100,000 years, the Earth's orbital path changes from being nearly circular to elliptical. The difference of the Earth’s orbital shape from a perfect circle is known as its eccentricity. An eccentricity value of 0 is a circular orbit, while values between 0 and 1 describe an elliptical orbit.

The Earth is closest to the Sun, or at the perihelion, about two weeks after the December solstice, when it is winter in the Northern Hemisphere. Conversely, the Earth is farthest away from the Sun, at the aphelion point, two weeks after the June solstice, when the Northern Hemisphere is enjoying warm summer months.

Due to variations in the eccentricity of the Earth's orbit, the dates when the Earth reaches its perihelion or aphelion are not fixed. In 1246, the December Solstice was on the same day as the Earth reached its perihelion. Since then, the perihelion and aphelion dates have drifted by a day every 58 years. In the short-term, the dates can vary up to two days from one year to another. Mathematicians and astronomers estimate that in 6430, over 4000 years from now, the perihelion will coincide with the March equinox.

The prefixes peri (meaning near) and apo (meaning far) are attached a root such as helion (meaning the Sun) to form the words perihelion and aphelion (with the 'o' in apo omitted in this case). A planet's closest and furthest approaches to the Sun are termed its perihelion and aphelion. However, the same prefixes are applied to the root gee (meaning Earth) to form perigee and apogee. These terms are typically applied to the Moon closest and furthest approaches to Earth, also they can be used for the approaches of other moons to the planets around which they orbit.

In general, apsis is used to describe the two extreme points in an elliptical orbit. See Figure 4.

The terms periapsis and apoapsis as distances, referring to the smallest and largest distances between the orbiter and its host body. However, things can get complicated when the differences in sizes between two bodies is not too great. See Figure 5 which shows the barycentre, or centre of mass, is the point about which both bodies orbit in a two-body system.

So how does this relate to astrology? It's difficult to say. The perihelion of Mars brings it close to the Earth when the Sun, Earth and Mars form a line. See Figure 6:

The closest approaches occur when three events line up:

  • Earth passes between Mars and the Sun
  • Mars is near its perihelion or closest point to the Sun
  • Earth is near its aphelion or farthest point from the Sun

This leads to some interesting cycles:

Close (or distant) oppositions of Mars recur in periods of 15 to 17 years. Note that we’re now 17 years past the historically close encounter on August 28, 2003. Mars’ next extra-close opposition will be September 15, 2035. However, like the 2018 opposition, it won’t be quite as close as the opposition of August 2003. Very similar Martian oppositions take place every 79 years (15 + 17 + 15 + 17 + 15 = 79). These 79-year cycles repeat with only a delay of two to five calendar days. 
The super-close opposition of Mars in the year 2082 will fall on September 1, 2082. But once again, Earth and Mars won’t come as close as they did in August 2003. There is a more exact cycle of 284 years (79 + 79 + 79 + 15 + 17 + 15 = 284). The Martian opposition that comes 284 years after August 28, 2003, will fall on August 29, 2287. This time around, Mars will come closer to Earth than it did during its close encounter in August 2003. 
Because the Martian orbit is becoming more eccentric (flatter), the closest oppositions will actually come closer to Earth, and the farthest oppositions will actually become more distant. The computational wizard Jean Meeus figures that from the years 0 to 3000 A.D., Mars will come closest to Earth on September 8, 2729 (55.65 million kilometres or 34.57 million miles) and farthest away on March 6, 2832 (101.50 million kilometres or 63 million miles). I’d like to see that, wouldn’t you? Source

From an astrological and thus geocentric perspective, these close approaches of Earth to Mars appear as Mars opposition the Sun. Similarly, when Mars is farthest away, it is conjunct the Sun. Are these oppositions stronger when Mars is marginally closer to the Earth and are the conjunctions weaker when Mars is marginally farther away from the Earth. Probably not. The super-close approach of Mars to Earth in August 2003 occurred in Jakarta shortly after midnight on the 29th. See Figure 7.

Looking back at this date and around this date, nothing particularly Martian seems to have happened. Skype was released on August 29th 2003.

Even though perihelion and aphelion may lack apparent astrological significance, it's always important to be aware of these astronomical events in case some significance does emerge.

Forthcoming Jupiter Saturn Conjunction

 

Jupiter and Saturn will be conjunct on December 21st 2020. To quote this source:

Astronomers use the word conjunction to describe meetings of planets and other objects on our sky’s dome. They use the term great conjunction to describe meetings of Jupiter and Saturn, the two biggest worlds in our solar system. The next great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn will be December 21, 2020. It’ll be the first Jupiter-Saturn conjunction since the year 2000, and the closest Jupiter-Saturn conjunction since the year 1623! At their closest, Jupiter and Saturn will be only 0.1 degrees apart. That’s just 1/5 of a full moon diameter. The extra-close Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in 2020 won’t be matched again until the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction of March 15, 2080.

According to Astrolog, the conjunction will be exact at 1:17am on December 22nd 2020 in 0°29'07" of Aquarius. The difference in celestial longitude is only 0°06' or 0.1° so it is very close. Of more interest perhaps is the chart for the conjunction at Basel, where most of the economic decisions are made. See Figure 1.

In Basel, the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction falls very close to the 7th house cusp with Leo rising, a fitting enough sign for the global elite. The ruler of Leo, the Sun, has just entered Capricorn and is conjunct Mercury on the cusp of the sixth house, representing sacrifice for the greater good. Both Sun and Mercury are in a close semi-sextile aspect the Jupiter-Saturn on the 7th house cusp in Aquarius. It is the common people who are going to feel the brunt of the economic changes that are coming. 

It is a fairly tense chart with few harmonious aspects. Venus, the planet of harmony and equilibrium, makes these aspects:

  • a quincunx aspect to Uranus (0°36')
  • a sesquiquadrate aspect to Mars (0°37')
  • a square aspect to Ceres (1°17')
  • a semisquare to Pluto (1°15')
Note that all other planets lie between Venus and Uranus. The midpoint of these two planets falls in 7°17' of Pisces in the eighth house and close to Ceres in 8°53' of Pisces. Ceres of course rules over food, harvest and the like and so food shortages could well be an issue. Overall it doesn't look too propitious. 

Clearly, the conjunction marks the beginning of a new cycle that will completely reshape humankind. THE GREAT RESET, as it's come to be called, will usher in a perverted AGE OF AQUARIUS in which we are governed by a seemingly omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient technocracy:
... a technological society run through social engineering. Fear is but one manipulation tool. The focus on “science” is another. Anytime someone dissents, they’re simply accused of being “anti-science,” and any science that conflicts with the status quo is declared “debunked science.” The only science that matters is whatever the technocrats deem to be true, no matter how much evidence there is against it. We’ve seen this first hand during this pandemic, as Big Tech has censored and banned anything going against the opinions of the World Health Organization, which is just another cog in the technocratic machine. Along with the technocracy will be come a ramping up of transhumanism and transgenderism. Saturn and Uranus will be square to each other in February of 2021 and December of 2021 so their interaction will be key to what happens in the coming year. On a final astronomical note, I came across some interesting statistics in a book that I'm currently reading titled The Big Bang Never Happened by Eric J. Lerner:

The Sun has only 2 percent of the solar system's total angular momentum, while Jupiter, with only one-thousandth the mass, has 70 percent; Saturn has nearly all the rest, about 27 percent.

So the two planets with 97 percent of the solar system's angular momentum will be in conjunction in December. Also of interest is the fact that for the next 120 years, all Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions will fall in air signs:
